The “About Us” page sometimes has a different title under the Pages section for search engine optimization and appearance purposes. The page may have another title such as one of the following:
- “Experience Our Award-Winning Team”
- “Meet Our Amazing Staff”
- “Meet Dr. ______”
- “Welcome to our Chiropractic Office”
If you have a Design 1, Design 2, Design 3, or Design 4 website the name of this page may also show up prominently on the homepage, in the content beneath the menu bar.
To make a drop-down menu at the top of your website, it is necessary to follow these steps carefully.
- First, create the new page (if not already created) that you want to have appear under a drop-down.
- Go to the Appearance -> Menus section of your website’s administrative area.
- At the top of the Menus section, where it says “Select a menu to edit” choose “Main Menu” then click Select.
- Under the “Pages” section beneath “Select a menu to edit”, click the View All tab.
- Select the page you want to add and click “Add to Menu”.
- When the page is added to the “Menu Structure” area, you can drag and drop to re-arrange the menu. To make one item a sub-menu (drop-down) of another item, position it below and to the right of the ‘master’ or ‘parent’ item.
Please refer to our Video Tutorials for instructions on changing your website content.
The homepage text is separate from the other pages on your website. It is located under the Widgets area of your website, which is typically located under the “Appearance” section in the left side of your administrator dashboard.
The specific widget position to modify does vary depending on which design you have:
Designs 1, 2, and 4: The summary text in the upper right corner is in the Header Right widget position. (The summary text shown under the photos elsewhere on the page is taken from pages each photo links to; modify those pages to modify the text that appears on the home page.)
Design 3: The homepage text under the slideshow is in the Slider widget position.
Design 5: The homepage text is in the Home Top widget position.
Design 6: The summary text is in the Search Bar widget position.
In all cases, the text widget is entitled “Visual Editor”.
The “Lost Your Password” link is in small text underneath the username and password login form on your website (accessible from the ADMIN or Log In link at the bottom of your website). You will need to provide the email associated with your website in order to receive a password recovery link by email. If you do not know the email address associated with your website, or cannot check the address anymore, you will need to first contact support to have the address associated with the website updated.
We have a plugin installed in our sites that is designed to convert YouTube links into videos but it doesn’t always work as it should.
There are two workarounds.
1. Click the Add Media button above the page editing area. Click “Insert from URL” on the left side and paste the video link overwriting the “http://” sample that is currently there. Click “insert into post” in the lower right corner.
2. Highlight the video link that is wrongly displayed as a link, then click this button shown below:
Then save the page and the link should be automatically turned into a video.
This should also work for Vimeo videos though we recommend the “Add Media” option to be safe.
This also only works for copying and pasting the video URL from your browser’s address bar. It does not work with embed codes provided by video websites. If you have an embed code you will have to manually add it to the site’s HTML code under the “Text” tab and save the page while still in the “Text” tab. If you edit the page with the Visual editor now or at any point in the future, it may break the video embed.
If it still doesn’t work, please try these steps in order:
1. If your video, make sure it is public. You cannot embed videos unless they are public; the private setting where videos are available only to those with the link will not work.
2. If it is not your video, please contact the person who made the video. They may have restrictions in place preventing their videos from being embedded on third-party sites.
3. If it is your video, it is public, you have followed all these steps carefully, and it still is not working… contact Integrity support.
No, you are not permitted to copy any text, pictures, blog posts, or any other web content from any other website unless you have specific written permission from the website owner. All content you add to your website and blog should be original, written by you, and including only photos that you took or have the rights to.
Violation of this policy is considered plagiarism and may lead to legal issues for you and your practice. Please limit the content of your website only to text and photos that you own.
There are a number of things you can do in order to give your website the best chance to rank highly on Google and Bing.
First, it is important to understand that while humans see your website design and layout, search engines can only see the text of the site and sometimes in an order different than what humans see on your website. But as a general rule, content near the top of your webpage will be the most important for search engine rank. So do not put rapidly changing information such as specials, news or promotions at the top of your homepage. The top of your homepage, or the center of your homepage in some designs, should have a concise, succinctly written, paragraph of text introducing you, your office, and what you can do for the prospective patient. Words like “chiropractor” and your city or community should be incorporated into this paragraph in order to be relevant on search engines, but not over-used as search engines do penalize for anything that appears to be “cramming” –unnaturally using words in order to increase their rank. This paragraph must be unique and should not be shared with any other Integrity website, or any other website. For more on this, including examples, please see this link.
Second, differentiate your content! Newly updated plagiarism detection techniques at Google and Bing will cause your website to be demoted for any text that mirrors or resembles text on another website (including other Integrity sites). Your website will perform best if as much content as possible on the website is unique and original and not copied from anywhere else. Furthermore, each local business (chiropractic practice) also should have only one website, so take down old websites for your office and do not have multiple current websites from competing companies. It may seem like this practice would help you dominate multiple lines of search results but if the duplicate sites are detected by Google and Bing as such, most or all of the duplicate sites will be penalized or completely removed. The penalization could take all of your business’s web listings off the first page of results.
Third, remember that Google and Bing rankings of local businesses typically are not all that different from actual popularity at the brick-and-mortar location. In other words, in order to be relevant on the Internet, your office must also be relevant in your community. Your PR person should be doing community outreach events; you should be mentioned in the local media; people need to know your name. Search results and ranking will follow; then going forward the in-person/in-the-community promotion and Internet promotion should begin to complement each other well and continue to help your practice and website dominate! But for newer offices, you need to spend much more time and resources on in-person PR marketing than online marketing. The website ranking will follow, but needs to not be the first step.
Fourth, remember that Google and Bing are slow when it comes to ranking and indexing websites, especially new local business sites. It can take a few months to even enter the search rankings, and unless you are very aggressively raising awareness of your practice “offline” through outreach events and media mentions, it might take one or two years before your site will be competitive alongside longer-established practices.
Fifth, remember social media helps. With Google in particular, local businesses need to use Google+ to set themselves apart from the rest. Every local business that is on Google Maps actually already has a Google+ page, and you cannot be on Google Maps without a Google+ business page. So go to http://www.google.com/local/add/ and search for your existing listing and claim it so as to start using that page for announcements (similar to what you might do with Facebook). And encourage your patients to leave you reviews on Google+ as businesses with a lot of good reviews also tend to stand out on Google.
Finally, remember there are a lot of scammers out there who prey on unsuspecting businesses in the area of marketing and search engine optimization. They either use outright lies, or misinformation based on search engine optimization “best practices” from years ago, and then rope clients into expensive agreements that are unnecessary at best, and can lead to Google and Bing penalties at worst. Do not pay for additional services such as Yellow Pages online advertising, Hibu sites, or search engine optimization from other providers.
Before hiring a SEO consultant (which we do not recommend but cannot prevent you from doing) or opening a support ticket with the Website department for search engine concerns, please speak with your Integrity coach or consultant. They can communicate your goals to the Website department and the Webmaster and coach will work together on doing our part toward achieving these goals. Please include your coach or consultant in any discussions about SEO. Integrity Management views the website service as one part of your office’s marketing and patient communication strategy and wants to work with you to achieve these goals through multiple factors and not through a reliance on website SEO alone.
Yes, videos from sites such as YouTube and Vimeo can be easily added to your site using our simple to follow video instructions.
If you do not know the username or password required to log in to the Administration/Self-Editing area of your Integrity website, you will need to go through the “Lost Your Password” recovery option on the login form. This can be accessed by clicking the “ADMIN” or “Log in” link at the bottom of your website, or by visiting your web site and adding /wp-admin/ on the end of the website address.
Click the “Lost Your Password” option and provide your username, if you know it, or your email address, if you don’t. The username was provided on your welcome email after you signed up for the Integrity Website Service.
Please note that the email address you provide MUST match the email address associated with the website. If the address does not match, you will have to first have the email address associated with the website updated. Click here to request this.
After Integrity Website Service support staff updates the email address, you will need to return to the “Lost Your Password” form and provide the address once again. You will then receive an email with instructions to reset your password. The password you choose must be very secure; you will not be allowed to save the password if it is not secure. A secure password must be at least 12 characters, with a mixture of capital and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. It should not contain a name or any word found in the dictionary.
This is the only way to reset the password to an Integrity website. Support staff cannot help you with passwords by phone, nor can they look up your password and send it to you. The passwords are stored in a way that is not human-readable.
There are two ways to access the Administration area of your Integrity WordPress website.
1. Scroll to the bottom of your page and look for the word “ADMIN” in small print near the lower left side of the page, OR the phrase “Log In” in small print near the lower right corner of the page. Enter your username and password to log in. (If you do not know your user name or password, click here for instructions.)
2. Go to http://www.example.com/wp-admin and log in. (Note – replace ‘example.com’ with your actual web address — so it is your website address followed by /wp-admin)
The Administration area requires a modern computer and web browser in order to access the editing functions. Minimum supported system requirements include:
Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Mozilla Firefox 4 or later
Google Chrome 12 or later
Internet Explorer 10 or later (Windows 7 or later – on Vista, use Firefox or Chrome)
Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 or 10.9
Mozilla Firefox 4 or later
Google Chrome 12 or later
Safari 6 or later
Mozilla Firefox 4 or later
We do not recommend editing your website on mobile devices. If you do choose to, please use the WordPress app from the App Store or Google Play store.
We do not support Windows XP or earlier, or Mac OS X 10.5 or earlier. Current, functional versions of web browsers may not be available for these platforms which may impede your ability to view, log in, or make changes to your website.
As a general policy, we do not allow custom scripts, codes, header tags, or similar content to be added to our websites.
In the case of DemandForce, we do support minimal integration in the form of adding their Reviews and Appointment links into our existing buttons. Please contact us with your DemandForce URL or account information (not the code they provide for webmasters) and we will integrate it with your website.
We have already installed Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, and Bing Webmaster Tools. Any office that desires access to these reports may contact us (through the “Contact Customer Support” link here) and request access to those existing profiles.
We will not, except under unusual circumstances, replace the Google Analytics account we have set up with one under the doctor’s ownership as we also need access to the Analytics dashboard when performing updated SEO or other account changes or upgrades. If an office insists on using their own Google Analytics tracking code, they do so understanding that Integrity is not obligated to continue offering complete SEO for that website due to our ability to do so being limited.
Our websites cannot have header tags or code added and there is no ability to modify the actual HTML code of the websites.
While it may be possible to add script or tag code directly in a post or page in the WordPress administrator area, this is not allowed and is unsupported. Upgrades or changes may break the code at any time, and code that poses a security risk or interferes with a function of the website may be removed, or lead to the website being suspended.
If third-party scripts or code need to be added (such as for Google AdWords), they should be done through WordPress plugins. Contact Customer Support to request installation of a plugin; the Webmaster will consider the request and either install it or notify the office in case of denial. On a free support tier, you must research the plugin and submit it to the support department (as well as all relevant connection information, possibly including login credentials) for review. We are not obligated to add the plugin, but will add it if deemed appropriate by website administrative staff. On a paid support tier, we will search for an appropriate plugin and add it for you, working with you to enter the proper information.
If your address or phone number have changed, you need to update the information in three places on the site. One is the map on the Location and Hours page. The map on your Location and Hours page is actually tied to your Google Local Business entry so you can change that at http://www.google.com/local/add/ or http://plus.google.com/. Please note that changes made to your Google Local Business entry might require a verification PIN to be sent through the mail, as well as a period of time while Google’s servers update. This process can, combined, take as long as a month.
The other two areas to update are in the Appearance -> Widgets area. There are two “Visual Editor” entries — one in the Primary Sidebar and the other in Footer 1 — one containing just the phone number and the other having both the address and phone number. Update the Primary Sidebar widget if your phone number has changed. If only your street address has changed, then you only need to update the Footer 1 widget.
Here is our tutorial video on this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49NA-46C1dw
It is also necessary to contact your consultant and have your contact and billing address updated in the Integrity system.
If you need assistance with these changes, or if your office name has also changed, you may request premium assistance to have the Integrity Webmaster update your website for you.
